Tasting notes

Château Montrose, located in the heart of Saint-Estèphe in Bordeaux, is renowned for its wines made predominantly with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The 1970 vintage, in particular, is legendary, often mentioned alongside the mighty Château Latour in terms of scale and stature.

In 'Les Gouttes de Dieu' volume 9, this wine makes an appearance when Yuhta discovers it in the cellar of a villa, recalling a past tasting at the château itself. The grandeur of the wine left a lasting impression on him.

Pour a glass, and you'll notice that deep ruby color. The aroma is a burst of ripe blackcurrant and plum, layered with hints of spice and tobacco, making it wonderfully complex. Take a sip, and you'll feel those dense tannins wrap around your palate. The tannins are precise, and the vibrant acidity keeps everything in harmony.

The finish is long, inviting you to savor it over time. After 56 years of aging, it's drinking beautifully now—take your time with it, let it unfold slowly. This wine truly captures the essence of Bordeaux.
