Tasting notes
E. Guigal's Gigondas is a red wine that really captures the essence of the Rhône region. It's mainly made from Grenache and Syrah, blending tradition and innovation beautifully. This bottle is all about power and elegance coexisting, offering something new every time you open it.
In "The Drops of God," volume 11, this wine makes an appearance when Mishima casually presents it to Shizuku for tasting. It’s noted for evoking the taste of dried persimmons, which leaves a lasting impression. And when you sip it, you'll see exactly why that description fits—there's this deep, sweet richness that just unfolds in your mouth.
When you pour it, you'll notice the deep ruby color right away. The aroma is complex, with ripe blackberries and a hint of spice wafting up. As you take a sip, there's this concentrated fruitiness that fills your palate, and the tannins are dense and firm. The acidity brings a lively balance, tying it all together nicely.
The finish is long, and the robust body lingers beautifully. I'd recommend enjoying it in a large glass, taking your time to savor each nuance. Decanting could work wonders too, letting you fully experience the wine's depth and complexity.
