Tasting notes
Henriot Brut Souverain is a sparkling blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, truly embodying the tradition of Champagne. Henriot, with its long-standing history in the Champagne region, is known for high-quality wines. This particular cuvée is celebrated for its remarkable balance and elegance.
In Volume 25 of 'Drops of God', there's a scene where Maki, a flight attendant, serves this Champagne on an airplane. It's usually reserved for first-class passengers, but in Maki's hands, it exudes a sophisticated elegance, much like a mademoiselle strolling down the Champs-Élysées.
Just look at this wine's bright golden color, with fine, persistent bubbles that are simply beautiful. On the nose, you first get a yeasty aroma reminiscent of freshly baked bread, followed by refreshing citrus notes. When you taste it, the sharp and lively acidity stands out, with fruity flavors of apple and pear spreading across the palate.
The finish is rather long, leaving a hint of toastiness behind—it's just delightful. This Champagne is perfect for enjoying its elegant complexity. Chill it to around 8 degrees and savor it during a leisurely moment.
