Tasting notes
Château Léoville Las Cases is one of the renowned estates in the Saint-Julien appellation of Bordeaux. Known for its remarkable blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, this château consistently delivers wines of complexity and depth. Although classified as a Second Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, it's often regarded as rivaling First Growths in terms of quality.
In the manga, it makes an appearance in volume 25. The narrative highlights one of the three distinct vineyards that emerged from the original Léoville estate. It's fascinating how the uniqueness of each plot is portrayed, with the wine reflecting the very essence of its terroir, capturing the spirit of Bordeaux in every drop.
Pouring a glass of this wine, you notice its deep ruby color with a hint of purple at the rim. The aroma is open and inviting, dominated by rich blackcurrant and blackberry, complemented by a subtle cedar note. Taking a sip, you're greeted by a lush fruitiness that fills the mouth, with lively acidity and finely grained tannins giving it a supple texture. The finish is long and intricate, showcasing how well-structured and deeply flavorful this wine truly is. It's a perfect example of balance and elegance in a Bordeaux red.
