Tasting notes
Tenuta di Trinoro is nestled in the stunning landscape of Tuscany, blending Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Andrea Franchetti started this project in the 1990s, bringing a fresh breeze into Italian wine by using Bordeaux varieties.
In Volume 2, there's a scene where Honma talks about this wine in his room. It's intriguing how he perceived it, and how its flavors and aromas resonated with him across time. You should definitely try it yourself to see what he experienced.
Pouring the 1999 vintage into the glass reveals a deep garnet color with a hint of brick at the rim. The aroma is open, dominated by black cherry and dried plum, with nuances of tea and underbrush giving it a solid sense of maturity.
On the palate, the fruitiness is rich and the full body sits robustly on the tongue. The acidity is strong, and the tannins are velvety, providing a well-structured backbone. The finish is long, unveiling layers of complexity that linger on. When you drink it, use a slightly larger glass, and maybe decant it beforehand to fully enjoy its depth.
