Tasting notes

Opening a 1970 Château La Lagune, it's like stepping back in time. This Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot has developed quite beautifully over the years. It's one of those bottles that any wine lover would jump at the chance to taste because it holds elegance and history in every sip.

Remember the scene from volume 16? They were tasting some unlabeled wines, and this one stood out like a classic ballet performance, reminiscent of 'La Bayadère'. It carried this exotic, smoky spice aroma—almost like a lady cloaked in elegance, with hints of Oriental spices wafting through the air.

When you tilt the glass, you'll see a brick color with an orange rim, showing its age. The aroma is open and complex, with scents of tea, sous bois, and dried herbs teasing your senses. On the palate, there's a rich black berry fruitiness, with the acidity coming across as smooth, and the tannins are velvety. It feels balanced, like each sip brings a new layer to discover.

The finish lingers long, elegant, leaving a noble presence in your mouth. It's the kind of wine you'd want to savor on a special occasion. Decant it and serve at around 18°C to really enjoy its complexity.
