Tasting notes
Opus One is this amazing blend where Napa Valley meets the genius of Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild. The 2000 vintage is something special, a real treat after all these years of aging. With Cabernet Sauvignon taking the lead and a little help from Merlot and Cabernet Franc, you just know it's gonna be good.
Remember in 'The Drops of God' volume 1? It was at the Monopole wine bar, right there compared with Mont Perat. Such a cool moment—seeing how Opus One stood out in that scene.
Just look at the deep ruby hue in your glass. When you swirl it, you can see the legs forming, showing off its age. Take a sniff—you'll catch ripe cassis and blackberry, with a hint of spice. There's this underlying aroma of tea and dried herbs too. On the palate, those robust tannins wrap around your tongue, but they're smooth, not harsh. The acidity is lively, balancing out the fruit flavors perfectly.
And the finish? Oh, it lingers beautifully. You get this lovely vanilla and oak note that fades out like a gentle melody. For the best experience, serve it in a good glass at around 18°C. You won't regret it.
